vienna, city center- design 2003 18/10/2003-18/11/2003 The award-winning designs of 2005 have been displayed in an exhibition. The exhibition presents selected and award-winning designs in a minimalist setting. The clinical atmosphere of a laboratory has been created to act as a backdrop to the displayed prototypes and new developments. The white floor as well as the seemingly free-floating exhibits impart a sense of insecurity and, at the same time, set the objects free. As a contrast, a natural symbolism is revealed in the display-cases set out on the floor. A community of white mice live amongst raw and left-over materials from the developmental design stages and their activities create a sense of disorder in contrast to the clinical appearance of the laboratory. Through the labyrinth of corridors and showcases there is a continuous hustle and bustle under the feet of the visitors. In order to maintain a natural environment of protected privacy for the mice, drinking and feeding facilites have been provided. | ||
