residence alte donauvienna - design 2005
Inspired by the extraordinary skyline view from Vienna's waterfront at Donaustadt we are currently building a family residence. The building is composed of two integrated parts: The lower is attached to the adjacent dwelling but stretches forward at the street side. The ground floor with various levels allows an unobstructed view from the living room over the promenade alongside the Alte Donau. The upper part detaches form the main structure and cantilevers wide over the lower floor into the south garden. The central interior space opens up through a tilted skylight, creating a continuous spatial perception. The interplay between alternating levels and perspectives marks the most distinctive quality of this compact waterside residence with impressive views of the "Alte Donau".
